The Lucky ones (Review)

The lucky ones, tells the story of three soldiers returning to the U.S. after spending a long time in Iraq. They get a 30 days permit and the three decide to travel together. During the trip they got into trouble, and begin to talk about the ideal future they would like to have after they serving in the army. The journey unites them, especially because they went through the same things while in Iraq. They return to resume their lives and they believe that everything will be the same. TK is a sergeant who wants to take permission to visit his girlfriend, but his self-esteem is affected when his "manhood" is affected by war too . Colee is the positive of the trio and her mission is to take her late fiance’s guitar to his parents (although he never met), but she gets a big surprise when he meets them. Fred wants to see his wife and son but realizes that things changed at home.

Definitely this is a film that like I said before, shows a different things that comes from war (sometimes). The movie doesn’t talk about the invaded country, people living in it or how powerful the U.S. Army is, but it talk about common people who sometimes feel obliged to "defend" their country, not for their countries honor, but for themselves and their family, even if the price is high.

This film was directed by Neil Burger and starring account Colee Dunn (Rachel McAdams), Fred Cheaver (Tim Robbins) and TK Poole (Michael Peña) I recommend her. Not all soldiers are bad and not all wars are worth fighting for.

The lucky ones, cuenta la historia de tres soldados que regresan a los Estados Unidos después de pasar mucho tiempo en Iraq. Ellos obtienen un permiso de 30 días, y los tres deciden viajar juntos, durante el viaje se encontraran con problemas, y comenzaran a crear un futuro ideal. El viaje los une, no solo por el hecho de haber vivido lo mismo mientras estaban en Iraq, ellos vuelven para retomar sus vidas y creen que todo será igual. T.K es un sargento que quiere aprovechar el permiso para visitar a su novia, sin embargo su autoestima es afectada cuando él pone en duda su “hombría” la cual fue afectada en la guerra. Colee es la positiva del trio y su misión es llevar la guitarra de su difunto prometido a los padres de este (aunque nunca los conoció), pero grande es su sorpresa cuando se encuentra con algo más que unos padres sufriendo y Fred quiere ver a su esposa e hijo pero se da cuenta que las cosas en su casa cambiaron.

Definitivamente esta es una película que como dije, muestra un lado diferente de los resultados de la guerra, no habla del país invadido, de las personas que viven en el, o de lo grande que es el ejército americano, sino de personas comunes que se ven, a veces, en la obligación de “defender” a su país, no por su honor, sino por ellos mismos y su familia, aun que el precio sea alto.

Esta película fue dirigida por Neil Burguer y cuenta con la actuación de Colee Dunn (Rachel McAdams), Fred Cheaver (Tim Robbins) and T.K. Poole (Michael Peña) Les recomiendo verla. No todos los soldados son malos y no vale la pena luchar en todas las guerras.
